Why Choose Factory Boat Canvas Replacement Over Cheap Alternatives
When it’s time to replace your boat’s worn out canvas, the decision often boils down to ordering a factory replacement or opting for a cheaper aftermarket alternative. While the price tag of universal or semi-custom covers can be tempting, factory replacement canvases offer unparalleled advantages that make them worth the investment. Here’s an in-depth look at why factory options stand out:
Perfect Fit
Factory replacement boat canvases are designed and manufactured to the exact specifications of your boat’s make and model — because nothing protects like an exact match replacement of the OEM cover. This precision ensures a seamless fit that not only looks great but also functions perfectly. Unlike cheaper alternatives that often involve guesswork, factory replacements eliminate the risk of ill-fitting canvases that can lead to gaps, sagging, or improper coverage, giving you peace of mind and superior performance.
High-Quality Boat Canvas
When your boat was built, the boatbuilder didn’t just pick any old canvas, they worked to design a cover that perfectly met the boat’s needs. That factory boat canvas replacement you’re considering? It’s the same marine-grade material your boatbuilder trusted to protect your investment from day one. When you order from the factory, you’re not just getting a replacement, you’re getting the same fabric, thread, tubing, and hardware your boat came with originally.
Designed to Perform
Since factory boat canvas replacements are designed for your exact make and model, they feature directional seams to channel water away and reinforced materials in high-stress areas for added durability. A generic boat cover that you purchase in a store or online won’t have these features. It can’t — it’s made to fit dozens of different boat brands and models, not just yours.
Warranty & Peace of Mind
Most factory canvases come with a warranty, so you can feel confident in their durability and performance. If something goes wrong or there’s a defect, you’re covered — it’s that simple. In the aftermarket world, warranties are few and far between, which means if there’s an issue, you’re stuck dealing with it on your own. Not exactly the peace of mind you want for your boat, right?
How to Order Your Boat Canvas Replacement
Ordering your boat canvas replacement might seem overwhelming at first, but it’s easier than you think when you know what to look for. Follow these simple step-by-step instructions to get the perfect factory canvas replacement for your boat.
Step 1: Identify the Canvas Piece You Need
If you’re unsure about the exact name of the canvas piece you need, don’t worry. The graphics shown here will guide you in identifying the precise piece for your boat.
Note: We strive for consistency in naming canvas parts, but boat manufacturers may use different terms. For example, a bimini top on a boat with a radar arch might be labeled as a “forward top” for one brand, while others call it a “bimini top.” Similarly, a bow cover might be referred to as a “tonneau cover” depending on the manufacturer.

Step 2: Locate the Tag on Your Boat Canvas
To order your boat canvas replacement, all you’ll need are the part number (P/N) and the manufacturing date (DT). You can find both on the laser-engraved, rubber tag sewn into your boat canvas. These permanent tags, branded with either Taylor Made or Ameritex, have been included on all our canvas parts for over 10 years.
These two details are all we need to recreate the exact same canvas parts that originally came with your boat.
Note: If your canvas doesn’t have one of these tags, we won’t be able to recreate it. Without a part number, we can’t identify which of the thousands of patterns in our system fits your boat.
Step 3: Request a Quote
Once you’ve identified the canvas piece you need and located the part number and manufacturing date, the next step is simple. Just fill out our online form to request a quote. Provide the details from your canvas tag, and we’ll take it from there. It’s quick, easy, and ensures you get an accurate quote for your factory boat canvas replacement.

Frequently Asked Questions about Taylor Made Replacement Boat Canvas
Can I change the color of my canvas?
The factory-direct, replacement canvas products we offer are the same exact products we designed in conjunction with the boat builder for that particular model. If you’d like a different color, we can accommodate that for an additional fee. Just select the “Yes, I’m interested in a premium color option” box when filling out our no-obligation quote form to see the available options.
Can I replace just the fabric for my bimini top?
Absolutely. If you have the original frame, you can order replacement fabric. It won’t fit aftermarket frames.
Can I use a canvas that is the same model but a different model year than I own?
No. Each canvas is designed for a specific year, brand, and model for a perfect fit. If your year isn’t listed, contact us to confirm availability.
Why did my boat canvas replacement arrive without snaps?
To ensure a perfect fit, we don’t pre-install snaps on the canvas. Slight variations in boat decks mean snap locations can differ, so aligning them during installation is crucial for the “glove-like” fit you expect.
Since we don’t know the exact snap placement on your boat, we ship the canvas without snaps, allowing you to match and align them correctly. You can handle this yourself or work with a professional installer.
