Recommended Rope Diameter Guide
Use this chart to help choose the correct line diameter. If your boat is located in a windy area or in an area that often experiences rough sea conditions, it is a good idea to choose the next bigger line diameter. Bow and stern lines should be two-thirds the length of your boat. Spring lines should be as long as your boat.
Rope Diameter | Boat Length | Tensile Strength |
3/8" | Boats up to 25' | 4,450 lbs. |
1/2" | Boats up to 32' | 7,850 lbs. |
